When it comes to cakes special around Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday periods, I want to make this cake Peppermint. Every year I do it for our holiday parties and always get rave reviews and requests to make again.
It takes time to make this dessert cake, but it will be worth your efforts.
Peppermint Pie Recipe
2 1 / 4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 2 teaspoon baking powdersoda
1 1 / 2 cups granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 / 2 cup of apples
1 / 2 cup milk
4 protein
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dampen a 9 "round cake pan with nonstick vegetable spray. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. In a large bowl, the butter, add the sugar and softened with a mixer at medium speed. Guard applesauce, milk, egg whites and vanillaextracted. Add flour mixture to apple mixture and stir until well combined. Pour the batter into your prepared pan. Bake 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cake cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, split cake in half horizontally to make two cakes.
Peppermint Frosting
1 1 / 2 cups granulated sugar
1 / 4 cup water
2 proteins
1 / 4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 / 2 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 tablespoons of peppermintStarlight candy, crushed
Tip: To crush candy, place 6 in a plastic bag, zip the bag closed and then wrap in a clean tea towel dry. Tights use a candy break.
On top of a double boiler, whisk the sugar, water, egg whites and cream of tartar. Cook over boiling water for 4 minutes or until mixture is warm and sugar dissolves (do not boil). Remove from heat. Stir in peppermint extract. Beat with an electric mixer at high speed for 3 minutesor until mixture forms stiff.
Place one cake layer on serving plate. Spread the frosting on the top level. Top with second layer and spread frosting on top and sides of cake. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies to the top and sides of cake.
Keep cake in a storage container to protect the cake.
